About Me

I’m Julie F. Rosenbaum Skolnick, M.A., J.D.—founder of With Understanding Comes Calm and author of Gifted and Distractible: Understanding, Supporting, and Advocating for Your Twice-Exceptional Child.

For over two decades, I’ve worked with parents, educators, and twice-exceptional (2e) adults to bring clarity, confidence, and calm to their journeys. Through my writing, speaking, and consulting, I help people better understand the complex mix of strengths and struggles that come with giftedness—and how to nurture both.

This work is deeply personal for me. I’ve raised three twice-exceptional kids of my own, so I know firsthand how confusing, exhausting, and beautiful this path can be. My goal is to offer insight, strategies, and compassion that remind you: you’re not alone, and understanding truly changes everything.
